The next production from the State Fair Community College Theatre Arts program will be the comedy “The Actress," showing February 21-February 25 in the Stauffacher Theatre on the Sedalia campus.

"Most of it takes place in the dressing room of Lydia Martin. It's her last performance, her last show," said director Tim Wells. "A cast of crazy characters comes in. Her agent comes in, her daughter, and her ex-husband. It's got a lot of humor in it, and it has a few touching moments, as well."

"The Actress" features a cast of seven student actors. The cast and crew have been working for over four weeks to prepare for the play.

Alyce Wilson of Eldon plays the lead role of Lydia Martin. "It's a look into the backstage," said Wilson. "It always is a very crazy affair in the back, but this is super-crazy because it's Lydia's last night. She's retiring, and she gets a visit from all of these people that are a part of her life. She is saying her goodbyes and she sees a lot of crazy characters. There are a lot of touching moments, there are funny ones, it's just a really good show."

“The Actress” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. February 21-24. Tickets are $6. Tickets are $15 for a February 24 dinner theater in the Stauffacher lobby. The dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. A matinée will be presented at 2 p.m. on February 25. Anyone 60 or older may reserve free tickets for the matinée.

SFCC students and employees receive free admission, and cost of the dinner theatre for them is $10. Special group rates are available for both regular performances and dinner theatre. Tickets may be purchased online at www.sfccmo.edu/the-arts, by calling the the Box Office at (660) 530-5814, or by emailing tickets@sfccmo.edu. Wheelchair seating is available upon request.
