Well, guys, it's that time again - State Fair's Homecoming!

This year's theme is "Paint the Town Blue". They're doing a bunch of fun events coming up starting the week of February 21, and a lot of it is not just to promote school spirit at SFCC, but but also to help West Central Missouri as a whole.

The American Red Cross will be hosting their Homecoming Blood Drive on February 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Thompson Conference Center. Employees and students of SFCC will have the following times blocked during the blood drive: 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. The blood drive will be open to the public from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

The Open Door will be hosting their Homecoming Food Drive from February 20 through the 24th to support our local food pantry. There's a competition for those donating on campus, whether they're students or employees. Whichever group donates the most weight in food will receive 25 points per group for the Homecoming Spirit Competition. But, it's not just limited to SFCC peeps, if you're not involved with either group, they encourage you to bring two non-perishable food items per person to earn FREE ADMISSION for the February 25 SFCC Homecoming game (I'm assuming you bring your goods with you to the game, and once you donate, then you get in free).

Now, SFCC competitors, where can you drop off your donations? I got you.

For the SFCC Students, they drop off their donations in the Student Food Bins (yellow signs) at the Parkhurst Student Commons (Cafeteria), Lobby of Yeater Learning Center, or the Multipurpose Center (Athletic Office downstairs). Now for employees/faculty, they can drop off food at the blue bins, which are in the Lobby of Yeater Learning Center, Student Service Office in Hopkins, and the Fielding Technical Center (near Office 264).

They're also doing a banner competition (judged by SGA Officers) and a mini float competition (judged by the basketball teams). That's all tied in to the game, of course, at the end of the week. One other event they're doing sounds like a ton of fun.

It's time to start our SFCC Homecoming off on the right foot with an open mic night! Bring your instruments, comedy, slam poetry, and more to Parkhurst Student Commons from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

AND, don't forget about the Community Engagement Fair the Sedalia Young Professionals is hosting that week at SFCC, as well.

PHEW. Sounds like a busy week. And a lot of fun! So, why not help SFCC "Paint the Town Blue"!?

Blu-ingly yours,
Behka
