Man, now that the fair is over, it’s time to get down and get my redneck on. I’m talkin' fishin', huntin' and bow-shootin. Man, I am ready.
I've been fishing before, but never in Missouri. Well, Huntin' Harry took me out to the Lake of the Ozarks with Catfish Expert Chris McElfresh, and man, was it a blast!
Well, it's getting dry: wet spring, dry summer. Man, do we need some rain. I sprained my ankle in a crack in my backyard it was so big. Anyway, that's summer in Missouri.
Young hunters and fisherman are invited to the J.A.K.E.S. event in Warrensburg. J.A.K.E.S. (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship) is an outdoor program designed to help youth sharpen their outdoors skills.
What did I tell you? We're out of the cooler and into the fire with mid-90s this week. What the heck happened to the mid-80s? Okay, cool temps and moisture are better than last year at this time and the food plots are looking good. We're getting ready to put out cameras and try some Bigtine. They've got it at Rusty Toad Archery in 40 lb. bags for less than $20. I can't wait!
Hundreds of kids, parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins and pets showed up a Liberty Park in Sedalia on Saturday for the annual "Kids Fishing For a Cure" event.
Okay, I'm not going to give the weather any more chances. It was 80. Then it was in the 30s. I'm going to boycott the weather, because when the shorts come out, they stay out.
The last week of turkey season was a little tough, for me anyway. Crappie are being caught and people are finding mushrooms. The time is upon us and that makes me happy happy happy.
Thanks to everybody, from the landowners who allow us to hunt on their land to everyone who attended out Whitetails Unlimited Banquet and those who sponsor our events. Our youth weekend was a great success, with five out of the six kids getting their first turkeys and three out of the four Wounded Warriors getting their birds last weekend.
