Stranded Motorist Struck by Freightliner in STL

A stranded motorist was struck & killed by an 18-wheeler in St. Louis early this morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that 45-year-old Antonio L. Green of St. Louis, was standing in lane 4 of northbound I-55 at Bayless Avenue around 12:40 a.m., when 35-year-old Corey L. Diggs, also of St. Louis, driving a northbound 2025 Freightliner, failed to see Green in the roadway, and the Freightliner struck Green.

Green was transported to St. Louis University Hospital by Affton EMS, but was pronounced dead at 1:31 a.m., this morning by Dr. Emily Fite.

The Freightliner had moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

There were a total of six Troopers on scene.
