It's always a special time when veterans and members of the military are honored at an event. That's what's happening this Saturday, July 20, at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO.

According to Lyndal Scranton, Public Relations Director, at Lucas Oil Speedway:

Lucas Oil Speedway has a long-standing tradition of honoring Military members, past and present, by asking them to stand and be recognized during pre-race ceremonies each week.

This Saturday night that recognition shines a bit brighter. It will be the annual Veterans and Military Appreciation Night edition of The Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series, Presented by KOLR/KRBK. All veterans and active military personnel with ID will be admitted free.

"This is one weekly that I especially enjoy as we get to show our respects to the Veterans and Military personnel of all our branches of service," said Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton, himself a United States Navy veteran.

"I know we acknowledge them each week, but this week they get just a little more special treat of free admission, just one way of saying thanks from Lucas Oil Speedway," Lorton added.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05. Special attractions on the midway will be the GEICO Military race car and the Old Wheels Car Club/Callaway Cruisers.
