The Sedalia Pettis Amateur Radio Klub (SPARK) will conduct their annual Field Day Exercise behind Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3700 West Broadway, starting at 1 p.m. and ending at sundown Saturday, June 26.

The purpose of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) event is to make as many HAM Radio contacts as possible around the world, using only 100 watts of power.

They do this to practice communication skills that would be needed in the event of emergencies, when all other forms of communication would be shut down.

HAM Radio operators will be on hand to explain the operation and answer all questions. The event is open to the public, including these who are interested in getting their HAM radio license.
