Snow and Bitter Cold Impacting Sedala & Warrensburg

The National Weather Service has extended it's Winter Weather Advisory until 6:00PM CST today, Monday February 15. Bitterly cold weather and more precipitation is expected to make travel difficult and spending extended time outdoors is considered life threatening.

According to our meteorologists at Weatherology, snow is likely overnight with a low of -8 with a 95% chance of precipitation.

Later today temperatures will hover around 0 with snow likely through the early evening hours. Bitter cold temperatures will remain with a high of 13 on Tuesday and we'll stay below freezing for most of the week with Weatherology predicting a high of 20 on Wednesday and Thursday, 30 on Friday, 38 on Saturday, and 42 on Sunday.

In their extension of their Winter Weather Advisory the National Weather Service says, "DANGEROUSLY COLD TEMPERATURES AND WIND CHILLS ARE EXPECTED TO
PEAK TONIGHT AND INTO EARLY THIS WORKWEEK. ADDITIONAL SNOWFALL
ACCUMULATIONS EXPECTED TONIGHT AND TOMORROW."  Impacts from the storm include, "slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 20 to 30 minutes."

With the bulk of the snow hitting on Sunday and many schools and government offices closed for the President's Day holiday today, the extra day gives MoDOT and local street departments an extra day to clean up until many swing into the work week and kids go back to school.
