State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunner basketball players Aiyanna Tanksley of Detroit, Michigan, and Jaida Shipp of Edmond, Oklahoma, recently were named to the National Junior College Athletic Association’s All-Region 16 Second Team.

The team ended the season with a 13-16 record. The honors are based on votes by Region 16 coaches.

“Jaida and Aiyanna were a handful in the paint and did a tremendous job on the boards,” said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Nicole Collier. “We are looking forward to their continued growth in the off season.”

Tanksley, a freshman forward, played in 29 games and started in eight. She led the team in scoring with 14.7 points a game and shot 50.1% from the field. Tanksley pulled down a team-high 9.2 rebounds per game, including a team-high 5.7 defensive rebounds per game.

Tanksley scored a season-high 29 points and 16 rebounds against Jefferson College. She scored in double figures 22 times and finished in double figures in rebounds 12 times.

Shipp, a freshman forward, played in 23 games and started in 21. She finished first on the team in field-goal percentage at 53.4, second in scoring at 11.2 points per game, second in rebounds with 7.7, and second in defensive rebounds with 4.5.

Shipp scored a season-high 28 points against Kansas City Kansas Community College and pulled down a season-high 16 rebounds against Mineral Area College. She scored in double figures 12 times and registered double-figure rebounds seven times this season.
