Sedalia Public Works Conducting Hydrant Testing
Sedalia's Public Works, through their engineering consultant, Burns and McDonnell, are performing hydrant testing and flow monitoring as part of the City's Water System Planning activities.
Testing activities will be performed throughout the city.
During these activities, water systems customers may experience discolored water near where the tests are being conducted. All water in the mains is treated, disinfected and is safe for use. While the discolored water is aesthetically unpleasant, it meets all state and federal drinking water standards, the City said in a press release on Tuesday.
If customers experience discolored water, they are advised to turn on the cold water tap in their bathtub or another fixture without an aerator and let the water run until it clears. They are also advised to avoid using their clothes washing machine until the tap water runs clear.
The City asked motorists to be extra careful around workers and equipment as the hydrant and flow monitor work is being done through Nov. 18.
