Sedalia Police Reports For November 13, 2020

Early Thursday morning, Officers conducted a vehicle check near the intersection of West 18th Street and South Kentucky Avenue. The vehicle was abandoned and found to be reported stolen out of Clinton, Missouri. The vehicle was towed and the investigation is ongoing.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a red Kia that was failing to maintain its lane and had a license plate light out Thursday morning. When Officers made contact with the driver, the odor of intoxicants was detected. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Brenda Kay Reven, 60, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. Reven provided a breath sample that showed her BAC to be above 0.08. Reven was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released. A request for the charge of Driving While Intoxicated has been submitted to the Prosecutor.

Thursday night, Officers responded to a possible disturbance near the 1700 block of South Grand. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with the caller, who had an active Pettis County warrant for Aggravated Assault. Crystal S. Burton, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, and was booked on the Pettis County warrant with a bond of $1,500 cash only.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Rainbow Drive and West 2nd Street Terrace for an equipment violation Wednesday night. The driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of marijuana and a marijuana pipe. The contraband was seized for destruction and no charges are being requested.

Wednesday evening, Officers took a theft report over the phone. William Hiatt said he was scammed into providing an unknown suspect with $400 in gift cards over the internet.

Thursday evening, Sedalia Police observed a black Nissan passenger vehicle with no license plates. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle at West 5th and South Harrison Avenue. During the stop, Officers learned the driver had a revoked driving status in Missouri. Lyndi M. Fox, 21, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked on charges of Driving While Revoked and released.

Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop in the area of East Broadway Boulevard and South Emmet Avenue for a lane violation Wednesday evening. Upon identifying the female driver, she was discovered to have an active warrant out of the City of Sedalia. Kimberly K. Volk, 54, of Sedalia, had a warrant for Failure to Appear on original charges of Animal at Large. Volk was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, and provided a bond of $60.00 cash only.

Thursday night, Officers responded to the 1800 block of West 11th Street for a report of property damage. Andrew Wilson reported that sometime between November 7th and November 12th, the back window was broken out of a vehicle parked on the property. The replacement cost for the window as estimated at $500. There are no suspects at this time.

On the afternoon of November 5th, Denise J. Gattner got a message on her phone from Google Pay; the message was addressed to a different subject. The subject had received the phone from Gattner for odd jobs at her residence. The phone had been deactivated/inactivated when Gattner got a new phone. There was other information that was mistakenly left on the phone and the subject was able to retrieve it. Gattner did not suffer any financial losses and was told to contact the credit bureaus if she did determine it. Gattner has already contacted Google Pay.

Thursday morning, Sedalia Police responded to a subject that was intoxicated at the Compass Health Center. Charles E. Politt, 54, of Sedalia, was taken to the Bothwell Regional Health Center to be assessed and then taken to the Pettis County Jail, whereupon he was booked to be held in protective custody for 12 hours.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 500 block of South Lafayette Avenue Thursday afternoon in reference to a missing persons report. Mary L. Butsch said that after a fight on November 5th, her husband left and has not been seen since. The subject was entered into MULES and NCIC as a missing person.

Thursday morning, Officers responded to the 100 block of East 13th Street in regards to a suicidal subject. The subject was taken to the Bothwell Regional Health Center to be assessed and treated.

Officers responded to the 1500 block of South Vermont Avenue in regards to a physical disturbance Thursday afternoon. After investigation, neither party had physical injuries and Officers couldn't determine a primary physical aggressor. The incident was logged for 12 hours and a report was completed.

Thursday afternoon, Sedalia Police met with Daniel Ortiz in the lobby of the Police Department in regards to an identity theft. Ortiz stated that during the course of getting hired for a new job, he was alerted that someone was using his identity in Arkansas. This led to him finding out that it was also being used in Denver, Colorado. An identity theft report was made, but there are no suspects at this time.
