On the night of Tuesday the 19th, Deputies were on patrol in the area of East 13th Street and South Center Avenue in Sedalia, when they spotted a blue Ford F150 in the area of East 12th Street and South Center Avenue. 

Deputies knew the truck to be owned by someone with an active warrant for their arrest.  Deputies noticed the lights flash on the suspect vehicle, indicating someone was either in or around the vehicle.  Deputies got out and checked to see if the vehicle as occupied, but no one was in it.  Deputies walked in front of the vehicle, and saw a male subject who they knew to be Larry Monotowine, 53, of Sedalia. Deputies shined their flashlights on Monotowine, who then ducked behind a green F150.  Deputies made contact with Monotowine, and attempted to secure him into handcuffs behind his back.  He began to physically resist.  Deputies were able to secure him into handcuffs. Montowine’s warrant was then confirmed.

Sedalia Police arrived on scene to assist.  Officers located a red and brown Folgers Cappuccino box under the green Ford, next to the driver’s side front tire.  The keys to Montowine’s vehicle were on top of the driver’s side front tire of the green ford.  Inside the box, Officers found a glass smoking pipe with a white crystal reside.  Also inside, Officer found a leather pouch, which contained a glass smoking pipe with crystal residue.  In the bottom of the pouch. Officers located three small clear plastic baggies with a white crystal residue and a small clear plastic baggie with a white crystal substance.  The substance tested positively for fentanyl, and methamphetamine.

Deputies interviewed Montowine, and when asked by Deputies why he ducked behind the vehicle, he stated “I dropped my soup cup.”   When Montowine was informed of the what was found in the box, he denied any knowledge.  Montowine then stated, “I have a pipe.”  Deputies then asked Montowine if he had a pipe. Montowine shook his head yes, and stated “I’m a f***ing addict, man.”  When asked, Montowine was unsure of where the pipe was, and wasn’t sure if he had it with him during the incident.  Montowine was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked in on charges of Trafficking Drugs in the 2nd Degree, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  No bond was assigned at news time.  Montowine also had a warrant from Pettis County on similar charges of felony Trafficking Drugs in the 2nd Degree, and two counts of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance from an incident on October 15th of 2024.  Bond for that warrant was set at $100,000 cash or surety.
