Sedalia Police Reports for February 28, 2022

Sunday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 3100 block of West Broadway Boulevard because the vehicle had no front license plate. During the stop, it was discovered one of the occupants had an active Failure to Appear warrant out of Pettis County on original charges of Property Damage in the 2nd Degree. Morgan R. Hawkins, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be held on a $1500 cash or surety bond.

Sedalia Police were performing speed enforcement in the area of Thompson Boulevard and West 10th Street Saturday afternoon when a northbound vehicle passed at a high rate of speed. In-car radar indicated it was far exceeding the posted speed limit. Officers caught up to the vehicle near Y Highway and Winchester Drive, where a traffic stop was performed. The driver, who was not named in the report, was issued a municipal summons for Speeding and released from the scene.

Sunday morning, The Sedalia Fire Department and the Pettis County Ambulance District responded to the 2300 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a medical call. A subject was found unresponsive at the scene. Life saving measures were taken, but were ultimately unsuccessful.

Early Monday morning, Officers conducted a vehicle check in the parking lot of the JC Penney store, 3159 West Broadway Boulevard. The owner of the vehicle had a no bond full US extradition parole violation out of Boone County for Burglary. Matthew Lloyd Gies, 30, Homeless, was found sleeping in his car. Gies was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

On the morning of February 25th, Officers responded to the 300 block of West 3rd Street to take a report to verify that a subject's vehicle was properly registered and present within the United States. A general information report was taken, and will be used by the subject to prove registration and location of the vehicle to the Mexican Government.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Menard's store, 4400 Wisconsin Avenue on the evening of February 21st in reference to a theft. When Officers arrived, they spoke to the caller. The caller stated a suspect had come into the store on the previous day and stolen $239.53 worth of merchandise and left the store. No arrests have been made at this time.

Sunday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for improper lane usage and failure to use a turn signal. The stop was conducted at the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and South Montgomery Avenue. The driver was found to have a revoked driving status. Jesus Ubaldo Torres, 43, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Revoked. Torres was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

Officers observed a vehicle travelling eastbound on West Main Street without license plate lights Saturday night. The stop was conducted at South Limit Avenue and West 3rd Street. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered the driver had a revoked driving status and was currently intoxicated. Jason Jonah Harvey Jr., 27, of Warsaw, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. There, he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC was above 0.08. Harvey was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released. A request for the charges of DWI (Prior Offender) and DWR has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Early Saturday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of South Limit Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard for a lane violation. The vehicle was occupied by five individuals, four of which were under the age of 21. The car smelled like marijuana. An occupant of the vehicle was found to be in possession of a firearm. Four citations were issued for Minor in Possession of Alcohol, and Five citations were issued for Open Containers of Alcohol. Scout D. Tackett, 19, of Sedalia, Ramiro Alfredo Rodriguez, 20, of Sedalia, Anthony Rojas, 20, of Sedalia, and Elizabeth Marugenia Rochin, 18, of Sedalia, were issued the MIP citations as well as the Open Container citations. Alberto Cano, 25, of Sedalia, was issued a citation for Open Container. The firearm was seized and placed into safe keeping storage at the Police Department.

Early Sunday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 4000 block of South Limit Avenue for a lane violation. The driver was found to have a no bond warrant out of Benton County for Possession of Amphetamine. Tonia J. Wolney, 48 of Warsaw, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on the warrant.

On the evening of February 25th, Officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of West 1st Street Terrace for a report of a misbehaving juvenile. A report was taken for documentation of the incident.

Sedalia Police responded to the intersection of North Stewart Avenue and West Morgan Street in reference to a vehicle crash with injuries Saturday afternoon. Upon arrival, Officers learned that southbound motorcycle had collided with a westbound passenger vehicle. The collision ejected the rider from his motorcycle and into the windshield of the passenger vehicle. He and the vehicle then came to a rest southwest of the intersection. The motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries in the crash and was flown to the University of Missouri Hospital. The crash is still under investigation.

Sunday afternoon, Officers responded to the 700 block of East 5th Street for a report of a violation of an order of protection. Dylan Brooks Clark, 23, of Sedalia, was located and arrested. Clark was taken to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of Violation of a Full Order of Protection.

Sedalia Police responded to the Comfort Inn, 3600 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a disturbance involving possible gunshots and a knife Saturday afternoon. Upon arrival, Officers were given occupants of a red Toyota Camry, involved in the disturbance. The Camry was fleeing the area. Officers came into contact with the Camry, and attempted to stop the vehicle in question. The Camry refused to stop. A pursuit ensued until the Camry exited the west city limits. Officers returned to the Comfort Inn to speak with the victims and take a report. An investigation is ongoing at this time.

Saturday afternoon, an Officer initiated a traffic stop on a car for an expired temporary plate. The owner also had a warrant out of Johnson County. Contact was made with the driver and occupants. One of the occupants was recognized as the owner. A check through Dispatch confirmed she had an active Johnson County warrant for Failure to Appear on original charges of Driving While Suspended with a $500 cash or surety bond. Zyon Dawnee Bell, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was booked.

While on routine patrol, Officers made contact with two subjects that were inside a dumpster located behind the Smith Cotton High School Sunday morning. Officers ran both subject's information through Dispatch. It was confirmed one of them had a Collin County Texas warrant for Possession of Dangerous Drugs. Vladimir T. Shalnev, 34, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he had a $5,000 bond. Charges of Fugitive from Justice are being sought.

Friday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop near Winchester Avenue and West 10th Street on a vehicle Officers observed leave the roadway. The vehicle left the roadway several times, causing the tire to pop. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Linda D. Casey, 68, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the SPD. There, Casey provided a breath sample that showed her BAC above 0.08. Casey was issued a UTT for Driving While Intoxicated and released to a sober driver.

Early Sunday morning, a truck was stopped in the 800 block of South Limit Avenue for disobeying a red light and failing to maintain its lane. After an investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Michelle L. Taylor, 45, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest. Taylor was taken to the Police Department, processed, and then released on municipal summons for Driving While Intoxicated and Disobeying a Red Light.

Saturday morning, Officers observed a vehicle travelling southbound on Thompson Boulevard that was driving partially in the turn lane and had expired registration plates. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of West 16th Street and Thompson Boulevard. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Tyler Domnique Vincent, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the SPD. There, Vincent provided a breath sample that showed his BAC was above 0.08. Vincent was issued a UTT with a court date, and released to a sober driver.

Officers responded to the 2400 block of West Main Street Saturday night in reference to a physical domestic disturbance. The victim stated he was in a verbal argument with the suspect when he was assaulted. The suspect left the scene before Officer's arrival.

Sunday morning, a van was stopped in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Park Avenue for several moving violations. After an investigation, it was determined that the driver was intoxicated. Cory M. City, 35, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest, transported to the SPD, processed, and released with municipal charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Improper Lane Usage.

Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop on a car near the area of West 16th Street and South Grand Avenue for a defective brake light Saturday morning. The Officer made contact with the driver. The driver admitted to having marijuana in the car. A probable cause search of the car found ecstasy, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Christina S. Crutchfield, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Officers met with management of the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard Saturday morning in reference to a theft. The complainant stated that the day before, someone attempted to run out of the store without paying for a full cart of alcohol, totaling over $1,027.32. Security video and images were recovered of the suspect.

Saturday morning, while aiding a person with recovery of found property, another individual came into the Police Department with found property. The individual said they found the license plate in the area of Rissler Road and 32nd Street, laid the plate on the counter, and left without giving any other information. The license plate came back to a business, but was not found in the in house system or the internet. The license plate was placed into holding as found property.

Sedalia Police responded to the area of North Ohio Avenue and West Main Street Saturday morning for a disturbance. Contact was made with a female subject, who reported she was assaulted by a male suspect. Keith Jacob Niemann, 38, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 2nd Degree. Niemann was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.

Saturday morning, an Officer initiated a traffic stop on a SUV near South New York Avenue and East 4th Street, as they recognized a subject in the vehicle who had an active Sedalia warrant. Contact was made with the subject, and a check through Dispatch confirmed the subject had an active Pettis County Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway While Suspended. Chrissy Ann Donaldson, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked pending a $60 cash only bond.

Sedalia Police conducted a vehicle stop on West 32nd Street Friday afternoon for speeding. It was discovered that the driver was driving with a suspended license. Jacob M. Burgher, 21, was arrested and transported to the SPD. Burgher was fingerprinted and released with citation for Driving While Suspended.

Friday evening, Officers responded to Clarendon Road for a vehicle collision. During the investigation, it was discovered one of the drivers involved in the collision had a revoked license and no proof of insurance. Steven N. Hensley, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the SPD. Hensley was fingerprinted, cited, and released.

Friday afternoon, Officers responded to the Carr Farm Diesel and Auto Repair, 3907 South Limit Avenue to take a property damage report. A vehicle on the lot was damaged when an unknown suspect attempted to break in. A report was taken, and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

Sedalia Police stopped a truck in the area of East 3rd Street and South Engineer Avenue Friday night after it was observed disobeying stop signs and other signs of impairment. The driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and impaired by drugs. Tyler J. McCue, 46, of Eldon, was placed under arrest for felony DWI (Drugs) and Possession of Marijuana. McCue was transported to a hospital, and then the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked in pending release to a sober person. The occupant, Rodney D. Ballew, 41, of Sedalia, provided a fake name in an attempt to conceal multiple felony warrants. Ballew was arrested on his Failure to Appear warrants for felony Driving While Revoked, felony Resisting Arrest/Interfering with An Arrest Involving a Felony, felony Stealing, and felony Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card totaling $10,000 cash or surety bond. Ballew was taken to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24 hour hold for Identity Theft.

Officers responded to the Bothwell Regional Health Center, 601 East 14th Street Saturday morning in reference to a subject walking into the ER with a bat. Officers made contact with two male subjects who were involved with an altercation. During the altercation, a female subject got out of the vehicle and sustained injuries. The female was transported to BRHC by the two male subjects. All subjects were highly intoxicated. A general information report was made for documentation.

Friday evening, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding on East Broadway Boulevard. The drive was found to have a suspended license. Susie Jean Priesmeyer, 42, of Blue Springs, was arrested for Driving While Suspended and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

On the afternoon of February 22, Officers responded to the Big Lots store, 3125 West Broadway Boulevard, for a report of a hit and run motor vehicle accident. Contact was made with Joanne M. Landon, who reported that a female suspect struck her vehicle and fled from the scene.

Friday afternoon, an Officers initiated a vehicle check because he believed the person inside had an active Sedalia warrant. The check took place in the area of West 3rd Street and South Prospect Avenue. A check through Dispatch confirmed the suspect had an active Sedalia warrant for Failure to Appear on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License. Dierre Marshaun Robinson Sr., 37, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked pending a $100 cash only bond.

On the afternoon of February 22nd, Officers made contact with Beverly Watts in reference to a theft that occurred in the 400 block of West Pacific Street.

Friday morning, Officers initiated a traffic stop near East 6th Street and South Massachusetts for a lack of front or rear license plates. A check through Dispatch found the driver had an active Pettis County Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree. Mary A. Hale, 31, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked pending a cash only bond of $101.50.

On the morning of February 21st, Officers stopped a vehicle at the Cenex store, 120 East 16th Street, after noticing it had a defective brake light. Investigation revealed that the driver was on the sex offender registry and had failed to keep his residency updated. James Robert Campbell, 38, of Calhoun, was arrested for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Campbell was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.
