Sedalia Police Arrest Woman Accused of Trying to Use Fake $20 Bill
Sedalia Police have arrested a suspect accused of trying to pass a fake $20 bill. Police were called on June 11 to a convenience store in the 1700 block of W. Broadway and were told that a woman attempted to use a bill with markings on the face and back side to pay for gas.
The suspect's vehicle was stopped in the 200 block of S. Park Ave. and 22-year-old Carmen Amanda Breshears was taken into custody. Breshears was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a stealing charge, and an active Pettis County warrant.
According to Sedalia Police, a recent influx of counterfeit money has been reported in the area. Counterfeit $20, $50, and $100 bills are being passed that have what appears to be Chinese writing on both front and back, in addition to lines across front and back corners. Authorities are asking anyone that comes into contact with counterfeit currency to contact law enforcement.
