There is a change to the Sedalia Christmas Parade this year as the Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce will hold the annual event on a Friday night.

The Christmas Parade will take place in downtown Sedalia on Friday, December 6 beginning at 7:30 p.m. The theme is Your Christmas Story.

The Chamber of Commerce says registration to enter the parade is $20.00 for 3 vehicles, plus $5 for each additional vehicle, float, horse or car.

Motorcycle entry rates are as follows:

up to 5 - $20

6 - 10 $25

11 - 15 $30

16 - 20 $35

21 - 25 $40

Entries must be received by 4:00 p.m. on November 15. It was noted that entries will not be accepted after that date and time.

All entries will need to line-up from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. on December 6. Each entry should be in line before 7:00 p.m.

All registrations must be printed from the chamber website at www.sedaliachamber.com.

Participants may email the form to debra@sedaliachamber.com with credit card information or send check by mail to:

Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce, Attn: Christmas Parade Entry, 600 E. 3rd Street, Sedalia, MO 65301.

The Chamber says payment is requested at the time entry forms are turned in or you will not be allowed to be in the parade.

All numbers will be emailed to the person’s email address listed on the registration form.  A line up number will also be emailed to each participant after the November 15th entry deadline.

Judged categories must have a minimum of three entries or the entries will not be judged. Float entries will be judged on theme interpretation, lighting, workmanship, and originality. The car entries will be judged on body/paint, condition, quality, detail, interior, and engine compartment. Horse entries will be judged on rider, color, costume, mount, grooming and presence.

Anyone interested in volunteering for the parade and for more information, can call Debra Andresen, Executive Director, at 826-2222.

The alternate date for the parade in the event of inclement weather, is December 13.
