The Sedalia Bombers post-season run in the National Baseball Congress World Series continues on after they defeated the Derby (KS) Twins 5-0, last night (July 31).

Danny Chambliss pitched 7 1/3 innings and only allowed 5 hits and 3 walks with 1 strikeout in his stint on the mount. Chambliss was relieved by left-hander Cody Ponder, who finished out the shutout by pitching the remaining 1 2/3 innings, with only allowing 1 walk.

The Bombers rattled the Twins pitchers early by scoring 3 runs in the first two innings. Trey Hair and Hunter Leeper drove in 2 runs a piece, leading the Bombers on the batting side.

The National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita, Kansas is a two week tournament and the Bombers now move onto the Championship Week side and will face the Santa Barbara (CA) Foresters on Saturday, August 2 at 1 pm.

Coach Jud Kindle and Craig McAndrews accepted a $5,000 reward check for being the First Week Runner-Up.
