Santa’s Helpers Memorial Toy Run November 7
The 18th annual Santa’s Helpers Memorial Toy Run to benefit the Sedalia Salvation Army will take place Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2:15 p.m.
Around 50 area motorcyclists will arrive with gifts to help children this Christmas, according to Magen Hudson, service center director for the Sedalia Salvation Army, 1200 E. Broadway.
The run begins at Cole Camp and travels to Sedalia for a stopover at Yeager's Cycle, 3001 South Limit, before moving on to the Salvation Army, where the gifts are delivered.
“Mike and Shelly Davis are the leaders of it, and they've done it since I've been there at least the last six years,” Hudson said. “I see a lot of familiar faces who love to help the kids. They bring a lot of big ticket items. They really come out for Pettis County and surrounding areas, too.”
Hudson added that she is looking for new toy donations for infants up through teenagers. Anyone is welcome to participate, she said. Snacks and coffee will be provided.
“Join us, it's really going to be a fun site,” Hudson said, adding that a Sedalia Police escort will lead the bikers to their final destination at the Army on East Broadway around 2:15. “They just fill up our parking lot, it is the coolest thing to see.”
