The Sacred Heart baseball team lost to Cole Camp, 8-7, in the opening round of the Sacred Heart Invitational last night.

Playing in very cold conditions, the SH offense started off hot, but pitching struggled in the late innings.

The game was cut short due to time limit, and Cole Camp who was the higher seed and the home team, batted last and ultimately rallied in the bottom half of the last inning.

Gavin Caldwell started on the mound for Sacred Heart and allowed three earned runs with four strikeouts in 2.1 innings of work.

Connor Rice hit a two-run home run in the first inning to get the Sacred Heart offense going early.

Donavan Dobson, Caden Crooker and George Bain IV added RBIs for the Grems.

Sacred Heart starts out the season 0-1, while Cole Camp is now 3-1.

The Gremlins play Smithton (1-4) on Friday, Day 2 of the tournament. Day 3 will be played at Otterville (0-1).
