Moberly Smells Bacon and 200 Jobs
Business is sizzling in Moberly, and soon the town will smell like bacon. According to abc17news.com a meat packing company is coming to town and bringing 200 jobs.
Plumrose USA is expanding it's presence in Missouri and putting a facility in Moberly that will produce pre-cooked bacon. Additionally officials tell abc17news.com the project will bring 200 jobs to Moberly.
A news release on the project quotes Governor Mike Parson:
We are excited to welcome Plumrose USA to Moberly, Missouri,” said Parson. “The company’s decision to expand in our state is a testament to Missouri’s world-class workforce, strong economy, and business-friendly climate.
And also has a statement from Plumrose USA President Tom Lopez:
This project emphasizes our strategic commitment to grow our business, be a stronger partner for our customers and the communities where we operate and to provide increased opportunities for our team members.
New business and industry is exciting for all our area towns. Small town life is wonderful, but the only way it survives is if industries and businesses continue to come and thrive. Otherwise you turn into a ghost town like Dickens, Texas, population 286. A place you drive through between Lubbock and Dallas. And no Missouri town wants to be the place you drive through from Columbia to Kansas City. You at least need a good bbq joint and a Casey's.
