Scotty R. Roark 56, of rural Lincoln, was located with a gunshot wound through his mid to lower abdomen. Scotty stated his wife, Katherine,  shot him as he was airing up his truck tire at their rural Lincoln residence.

A search warrant was conducted on the residence, where Katherine surrendered herself without incident.  The search warrant was served, where a .38 caliber Taurus, double-action revolver was recovered, with five spent casings in the cylinder.

After acknowledging and waiving her Miranda rights, Deputies interviewed Katherine. Katherine Roark stated she and Scotty Roark were fighting for the last two days.  The night before the incident, Katherine stated she retrieved the revolver, and kept it with her because of her frustration about verbal abuse.

According to the probable cause statement, on the morning of the incident, while Scotty was preparing to leave, Katherine began firing the revolver at him, cocking the hammer back between each shot, firing at least three times.  Katherine stated she pursued him in the yard as he attempted to escape, and pled with her not to shoot.

Scotty was taken by ambulance to a trauma hospital. Due to inclement weather, the air ambulance was unable to fly. Katherine was taken into custody at their residence without any resistance and transported to the Benton County Jail where she was placed on a 24 hour investigative hold.

On November 6th, a warrant was issued for Katherine L. Roark, 52, of Lincoln, on charges of felony Domestic Assault in the 1st Degree (Causing Serious Physical Injury) and felony Armed Criminal Action. Bond for Roark was set at $500,000 surety only.  Roark remains in custody at the Benton County Jail.
