Saturday, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office was advised that a person may be considered to be an absconder, because they have not updated their registry as a sex offender. The investigation is on going.


 

Sunday night, Deputies were dispatched to an address in rural Warrensburg for a report of a domestic disturbance. The suspect had left the scene before Deputies arrived. Deputies conducted an investigation and later located the suspect. Brent Neal Lockhart, 26, of Warrensburg, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree.


 

Deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of NW 50 Highway NW 175 Road in Centerview Sunday morning. Deputies identified the driver and determined he was impaired by drink. Brock Christopher Null, 28, of Lee’s Summit, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Alcohol) and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign.


 

Sunday morning, Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of West Gay Street in Warrensburg. The driver, was placed under arrest due to intoxication. Nathan Samuel White, 34, of Warrensburg, was arrested for Driving while Intoxicated and transported to the Johnson County Jail.


 

Deputies conducted a traffic stop near the area of South Maguire Street and East Clark Street in Warrensburg on Sunday morning. Deputies identified the driver, and determined they were impaired by alcohol and cannabis. The driver was also found to be in possession of two suspected hydrocodone pills that were not prescribed to her. Amari Church, 24, of Kansas City, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs), Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Failure to Drive on the Right Half of the Roadway.


 

Saturday night, Deputies were dispatched to 1299 NE 50 Highway in Knob Noster for an agency assist with the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies successfully stop sticked the fleeing vehicle, resulting in the vehicle coming to a stop. Pettis County Deputies arrested the driver, Raymon McCoy*, 31. Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of SE 201 Road and South East 180 Road in Warrensburg Saturday night. Deputies identified the driver and determined he was impaired. Timothy Prince, 64, of Warrensburg, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Alcohol) and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign.


 

Saturday afternoon, Deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of SE 971 Road in Knob Noster in regards to a fraud call. Deputies made contact with the victim, who advised she received a call from an unknown number. The caller claimed to be a Deputy with the JCSO, who informed the victim she had missed jury duty and had warrants, telling her she would have to pay a fine. The victim paid the scammer $1,000. The case is under investigation.


 

Saturday morning, Deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of SE 52 Road in Warrensburg in regards to a fraud. The victim advised her debit card was used fraudulently that morning. The car was lost on August 24th, and there is no suspect information yet.


 

Deputies were dispatched to an address in rural Warrensburg for a report of a domestic disturbance. Deputies investigated the scene Sunday night. They determined there was no assault, injuries, or a primary aggressor.

Saturday morning, Deputies were dispatched to a report of domestic assault. After an investigation, it was determined the suspect had a silver .38 caliber Taurus revolver pistol, and that he had knowingly caused physical injury to a victim he had been in social relationship with by pistol whipping them. Shane Alexander Devine, 47, of Chilhowee, was arrested on a charge of felony Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree, felony Armed Criminal Action, and felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon**. Devine was transported to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office for processing with no bond.


 

Friday night, Deputies were dispatched to a report of domestic assault that occurred in Kingsville. The Deputies conducted an investigation, and learned the suspect had left the scene.


 

Deputies were dispatched to the area of NE Division and NE 13 Highway in regards to a report of trash dumping Friday morning. The reporting party advised there were several bags of trash with discarded mail inside. Deputies contacted the owner of the mail and the investigation continues.


 

Friday morning, Johnson County Crime Resolution Team members conducted an investigative traffic stop in the area of Land Street and North Street in Warrensburg. Nathan McDonald, 47, of Warrensburg, was arrested for Operating A Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A passenger, Chad Harrington Ezell, 50, of Warrensburg, was arrested on a no bond Probation and Parole warrant for original charges of felony Forgery. Ezell was issued a cash or surety bond of $25,000. Both McDonald and Ezell were transported to the Johnson County Jail without incident.


 

On the afternoon of August 22nd, Deputies were dispatched to an address in rural Warrensburg in reference to a person trespassing. Kayla Brianne Penfield, 34, of Chilhowee, was arrested for Trespassing and transported to the Johnson County Jail.


 

Last Thursday afternoon, Deputies observed a black Chevrolet Silverado pulling a goose-neck flatbed trailer along South of Pine Street in Holden. The trailer was displaying an unreadable license plate, due to it being bent up. The stop took place onto 5th Street. Deputies made contact with the driver, and asked for his information. Deputies searched the trailer for a VIN and did not find one, and determined the trailer would be towed away. Dustin Lee James, 54, of Strasburg, was issued a UTT for Failure to Register a Trailer Annually with the DOR and Displaying the Plates of Another.


 

On the morning of August 22nd, Deputies responded to the 1200 block of NW 1541 in Bates City for a report of trespassing, and potential theft of walnut logs. Prior to responding, Deputies received information that there was video footage of a white truck on the property. A trail camera had been set up previously after an initial call of theft occurred on August 20th. In that incident, a walnut tree was cut down and part of the tree was stolen. Deputies arrived and located Christopher Robinson, 42, Homeless. Robinson had an active warrant out of Oak Grove for Failure to Appear, and Dispatch also advised Robinson is on probation for Trespassing and Property Damage. Robinson was arrested for charges of Attempted Theft.


 

Deputies wrote a summons for a grass and vegetation ordinance violation to Janet Coe on the morning of August 21st. The citation was for property owned at 112 North Pennsylvania Street.


 

Last Tuesday afternoon, a Johnson County CRT member conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of SE 23 Highway in Knob Noster. The stop was conducted because of a registration violation. Nicole Seward, 33, of Clinton, was issued a citation for Driving While Suspended and a given a verbal warning about the registration.


 

Last Wednesday morning, Deputies responded to an address on West Chestnut in Chilhowee for a report of a burglary in progress. The reporting party stated her mom’s ex was on the property and banging on the windows like he was trying to get in. While in route, the victim stated she could not see or hear him anymore, but believed he was still on the property. After Deputies arrived, it was determined no burglary took place. However, the ex-boyfriend was trespassed from the property. Robert Wayne Grubb, 55, of Chilhowee, was also cited for Driving While Suspended***.


 

*Report number 2024-1236-24 states the arrestee’s name is “James McCoy”. This might be an alias or nickname given.

**Report number 2024-1228-24 states Devine was arrested on a charge of Burglary and Domestic Assault. Casenet 24JO-CR99891 updated the charges, which are listed above.

***Grubb currently has four municipal summonses from the City of Holden on charges of Improper Lane Use, Driving While Suspended, Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The summonses were issued on August 19th, 2024.
