From Onion Soup To Onion Pie: Get Creative With Vidalia Onions!

It's that time of year when the Sedalia Shrine Club is out selling Vidalia Onions. The onions came in yesterday afternoon. This morning Mike and I were running his mom's car to the mechanic when we happened upon the Onion sale at the Westlake Ace. That led to us thinking, one or two onions can go a long way, so what could you do with a whole bag of them?

Now don't get me wrong, the Shriners do a lot of good work, and the onion sale is one of the things that help them do that. So we think you should get yourself a bag. And remember, we're not poking fun at them or anyone that loves Vidalia Onions.

So what can you do with a bag of Vidalia Onions? Some of the silly things we thought of include making a mean onion soup. Make onion pie. Peel it and eat it like an apple. Peel it and have a good cry. Grab the entire bag, something to peel the onions with, put on a sad movie, and have an excellent cry. Put one in a sock and visit your enemy. Put a bunch of onions in a bag and visit your enemy. Buy a bag and share it with your friends and family.

That last idea is pretty cool, and that's not a bad idea. In all seriousness though, there isn't a shortage of things you can do with a bag of Vidalia Onions if you like them. For example, Southern Living has 14 Sweet Vidalia Onion Recipies, All Recipies has 10 Vidalia Onion Recipies That Everyone Will Love, and believe it or not, there's even a recipe for Vidalia Onion Pie on The View From Great Island.

There's even a subreddit called "Help me use a bag of Vidalia Onions". So there isn't any shortage of things you can do with a bag of them. Look for the Shriners selling the Vidalia Onions this weekend in the parking lot of Westlake Ace Hardware in Sedalia.
