When I was a senior in high school, my parents made sure to buy U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges issue. While I wasn't overly focused on what their data said when figuring out what colleges I would apply to, I looked at the listings for colleges I was interested in attending. I'm sure my parents were paying attention to the information as well. Because college is way more expensive today and college education is big business for many universities, good rankings are essential. I'm sure the University of Central Missouri was happy for their inclusion.

According to U.S. News & World Report, its Best Colleges website provides expert advice, rankings, and data to help students and their parents find the best college for them.

This year's report contained good data for the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg and Lee's Summit.

UCM ranked #73 among Regional Universities in the Midwest and #22 among Top Public Schools. They were also ranked in the Best Value Schools at #61 and #34 in Best Colleges for Veterans.

In the Social Mobility category, which looks at colleges and universities that graduate large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded Pell Grants, the University jumped seven spots to #92.

In the National Rankings, UCM's nursing program ranked #392, and the University ranked #236-#286 for Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs.
