Outstanding Hitmakers From the Last 20 Years Playing State Fair
One of the dominant rock and pop bands of the last 20 years will headline the Missouri State Fair Grandstand show on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
I'm talking about the Goo Goo Dolls. If you've listened at all to the radio in the past 25 years you haven't been able to escape hearing some of this band's music. The Goo Goo Dolls have achieved 16 number-one and top 10 hits during their career and the band holds the all-time radio record for most top 10 singles.
Their album "A Boy Named Goo" from 1995 has gone double-platinum, "Dizzy Up The Girl" has gone five times-platinum, while 2002's "Gutterflower" and 2006's "Let Love In both went gold. As the band matured, both "Something For The Rest of Us" and "Magnetic" hit the top 10 of the Billboard Top 200.
Tix Tok has helped the band's biggest song "Iris" again recently. The song recently went viral on the social platform which helped it achieve seven-time platinum status and re-entered the Billboard charts. By the way, the song sat at #1 on the Hot 100 for 18 straight weeks during its original run and has been named the number one Top 40 song of the last 20 years.
Opening for the Goo Goo Dolls is a band whose songs have been on the charts and the radio right next to the Goo Goo Dolls. That would be The Fray. The group had success with two tunes from their debut self-titled release "Over My Head (Cable Car)" and "How To Save A Life"
This show will be popular with those pop/rock music fans who were coming up with music around the turn of the century, and those a little older or younger, who experienced these two groups for years on the radio.
Tickets for this show are $70 for track seats and $60 for grandstand seats. Tickets go on sale for the Goo Goo Dolls and all Missouri State Fair Grandstand shows and events on Tuesday, May 21, through Etix. All concert seats are reserved and convenience charges apply to all tickets.
