I've heard that it's not how much money you have, but how you use it that matters. If that is really true, there's one landowner in Missouri who is doing a lot of good with his wealth. While he's one of the largest property owners in the Show Me State, part of his land efforts include trying to save the American bison.

When it comes to who owns the most land in Missouri (other than the government obviously), one famous man appears near the top of the list. A-Z Animals says that among land owners in the private sector, few rival the amount of land Ted Turner owns in the state.

According to the numbers they shared, Ted Turner owns 149,000 acres in Missouri and it's mostly ranch and farm land. If you know much about Ted Turner, you know that not only was he one of the first to start a 24/7 news network, but he also has a heart for saving bison.

No surprise that Ted Turner owns land in other states and not just in Missouri. He has many reserves in the American west, too. They occupy somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 million acres according to his official Turner Ranches website.

It's not just Ted Turner's acquisition of land that has garnered headlines, but his conservation efforts also. So much so that even Oprah Winfrey did a feature on them.

Yes, Ted Turner is the 2nd largest private land owner in Missouri. Let's hope he continues to use his riches to help the iconic animals that still call it home.
