A Holden woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Wednesday night in Johnson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a northbound 2019 Kia Soul, driven by 65-year-old Mary E. Kuykendall of Holden attempted to cross US Highway 50 at Route D around 9:30 p.m.. when she traveled into the path of an eastbound 2021 Mack tractor-trailer, driven by 40-year-old Thomas W. Hurst of Warrensburg.

The Mack truck struck the Kia Soul. Kuykendall was pronounced dead at the scene by Johnson County Coroner Clark Holdren at 10:25 p.m.

Kuykendall was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

The Mack truck received minor damage, while the Kia Soul was totaled.

Both vehicles were towed by Don's Truck Towing.
