Here’s One Organization You Can Support Today
Today is Giving Tuesday and there are many local and regional charities and organizations that hope you'll open your wallet and donate to them. Yet CASA, Citizens Against Spouse Abuse, not only will accept your monetary donations at CASA-Sedalia.org, but they can also use some very practical items you can pick up at any grocery or drug store.
If you're not familiar with CASA's mission, it is to empower domestic and sexual violence survivors to regain control of their lives through education, advocacy, and coordination of community resources.
Specifically, CASA provides sexual assault victims with immediate help, including assistance to meet immediate needs, emotional support, emergency shelter, and emergency room or hospital accompaniment. Additionally, CASA offers parenting classes, free therapy services, and support groups, as well as educating the community on the problems of domestic and sexual abuse.
CASA not only serves Pettis County but also serves Saline and Benton Counties and the towns and rural areas in those counties.
So how can you help CASA? Well, they're always accepting monetary donations, however, they also have some practical needs you can pick up at the grocery or drug store. If you have a school-age child you're trying to teach to give this might be the way to do it.
CASA is looking for:
- Q-Tips
- Pillows
- Baby wipes, butt paste, baby lotion
- Baby wash/shampoo
- Size 4 & 5 diapers
- Bath towels/Wash clothes
- Paper plates and cutlery
- Shampoo/Conditioner, Body wash, Lotion
- New hair brushes/combs, Elastic Hair Ties
- Tampons/deodorant/disposable razors
- Toothpaste/toothbrushes
- Cleaning Supplies
- Trash bags, storage bags
- Aluminum foil
- Toilet Paper/Paper Towels
- Dish Soap
You can obviously head to the store and drop off an in-kind donation. Or you order them from Walmart or Amazon as CASA has a registry at Walmart and an Amazon Wishlist. You can learn more about these lists and nonmonetary donations here.
Monetary donations are accepted here.
Additionally, if you're reading this and need CASA's help and support, please contact their 24-hour crisis hotline at 660-827-5555 or 1-800-894-1151. You can also reach out via email to info@casa-sedalia.org.
There are many worthy causes and organizations in West Central Missouri, and CASA is one of them. Whatever organization or charity you choose to help this season, thank you.
