As a man who has been cursed with a thinning hairline, I have been shaving my head since I was 30 years old.  To balance out my face, I have grown a goatee and on occasion I have grown a full beard.  I may consider doing it again this November.  If I do, I can justify it and make an excuse that I am doing it for a good cause.

If you are not familiar with the term No-Shave November, allow me to explain.  Then you can put your razor away.  The annual event is a monthlong endeavor in which participants forgo grooming to raise awareness for cancer. Funds that would normally go toward monthly hair maintenance are instead donated to cancer foundations.

No-Shave November has been a tradition for many years, but in 2009 the Chicago-based Hill family decided to reinvent the activity to raise money for charity. This project held special meaning to the eight Hill children after their father, Matthew Hill, passed away from colon cancer in November 2007.  You can read more about it HERE.

The goal is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and let it go wild and free.  Depending on your growth, I don't think you will end up with a ZZ Top like beard, but if you wanted an excuse to avoid shaving, now you have one.

The movement has spread nationwide and more than $12 million dollars have been raised for cancer organizations. No-Shave November has partnered with 13 groups this year.  Participants, friends and family can track their donation progress.  You can get more info HERE.

So will any of you be participating? Either by choice, or just too lazy to shave?  Either way, the funds saved on razors and shaving creams, etc. will go to a good cause.
