I think it's safe to say that we have all heard of Black Friday, in recent years Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. However, today (Dec. 2) is also another day called Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday is a day that after you have made your purchases for friends and family, you donate  money or volunteer in community organizations.

I hope that you take the time and donate towards some great organizations locally, such as Community Santa, Salvation Army, United Way today.  These are not by any means the only organizations in need of donations, but I have highlighted each of them in the past.

Community Santa has boxes in various stores, where you can donate toys for the Holidays. You can also swing by the Santa House, behind Bing's in the State Fair Shopping Center.

The Salvation Army has bell ringers in many stores and tabletop buckets, where you can donate dollar bills and spare change to help with their programs.

The United Way is still striving to make $500,000 or as they say, 'half a million to make a whole'.  They help out various non-profit agencies in our community.

I do hope that you take the time and donate time or money for various causes. I've often thought that to get into the spirit of the season it is nice to donate and show appreciation for our community.

No matter where you live, take the time and donate today.
