Press release from Woods Supermarket:
Sedalia Woods Grand Opening Feb. 15
Woods Supermarket Chief Executive Officer Craig Easter announced today that Woods will open its second Sedalia location at 1400 S. Limit St., in the State Fair Shopping Center, on Wednesday, Feb.15 at 7 a.m. A Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting open to the public will be held at 10 a.m. the same morning. The new store is in the remodeled and updated interior of the former Bing’s West Grocery Store.
Woods purchased Bing’s Pharmacies’ prescriptions in mid-summer 2016 and moved the Bing’s West pharmacy’s scripts to a standalone Woods Pharmacy that opened August 4th on the southeast corner of the center. The pharmacy will be moved back inside the new store to make it more convenient for shoppers to do their grocery and pharmacy shopping in one location. “The current pharmacy staff will all be making the move to the new Woods Supermarket, so pharmacy customers will continue to receive excellent service from familiar faces,” stated Easter.
He added, “We have hired about 60 new employees for both full and part-time positions at our new location. They have all been going through orientation and training so they will be well trained to provide the honest, friendly, courteous, ‘Solid Woods’ customer service from day one that the Woods Family expects from each of its associates.”
The store’s Grand Opening activities will include food demonstrations and sampling in the fresh departments, as well as weekly drawings for prizes that will take place only at the new Woods. There will also be many Grand Opening Specials in every department of the store, most of which will be honored at Woods’ Sedalia/Broadway and their Warrensburg locations.
Woods is introducing a New Woods Reward Card program that will allow card holders to “Save More Ways”. Like Grocery and Fuel Savings where you save 1¢ per gallon for each $10 grocery purchase; 5¢ a gallon on each new, refill and transfer prescription; and additional food and fuel savings by purchasing specific designated items in the store. Purchases with the Woods Reward Card will earn customers a reduction on their fuel bill at the Woods Express, 701 East Broadway, and other participating stations.
You can “Save More Ways” by downloading Digital Coupons and can earn digital savings rebates by adding ibotta, Upromise and other downloads to your card. Plus, present your Woods Rewards Card when shopping at Woods and you save on Weekly Specials, all kinds of special sales, Meal Deals, BOGOs and other savings offers. Seniors get a 5% Savings Discount on Wednesdays with the card. Scan your card at the new Woods Grand Opening and you are automatically registered for all that week’s prize giveaways. No purchase necessary. The Woods Rewards Card is free and it only takes a few minutes to sign up.
Many other improvements and a fresh new look will be made to the market, making the new Woods Supermarket and Pharmacy more convenient and pleasing to shop.
Woods Meat Department will have professional meat cutters on duty, in-store 7 days a week, cutting fresh meat. The meat department will offer a new full-service meat case where customers can get personal service in selecting special cuts of beef, pork and poultry as well as value-added products like kabobs, pinwheels and bacon-wrapped filets. Special orders are welcome and Woods butchers will be happy to cut and package the products as the customers want them.
Woods Produce Department will be updated with new display tables for a larger variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, both conventional grown and organic. When possible, Woods offers a wide selection of locally grown produce items at all their stores. No matter where it is grown, every produce item Woods sells is Triple Inspected for Quality: in the field, in the warehouse and at the store. Need help in selecting produce? Ask a produce clerk and they will be happy to assist you.
The expanded Bakery will feature daily fresh baked breads and rolls. The Deli will feature a larger “Grab ’n’ Go” Deli section and a new, reach-in, self-service hot food case for rotisserie chickens.
“Woods Supermarkets is celebrating our 70th Anniversary this year and we are excited to be kicking it off with the opening of the new Sedalia store,” Easter added. Woods has been serving Sedalia families since 1994 when it purchased the former Food Barn store at Broadway and Ohio. That location was closed in April, 2008, when Woods built and opened the 38,000-sq. ft. current Woods Supermarket at 701 East Broadway
“Family owned since 1947, Woods has always strived to be the ‘best hometown grocer’ in Sedalia and each of the communities we serve,” continued Easter. “As a company, we are a member of the Chamber of Commerce and support area schools, churches, local food banks, charities, youth/senior groups and the community as a whole. We encourage our employees to get involved in volunteering to make their/our hometowns better places to live. For over 22 years, Sedalia has been good to Woods Supermarket, and we believe Woods has been good to Sedalia. The Woods family is excited to expand our presence in the Sedalia area.”
“Woods looks forward to making our Solid Woods Quality, Service and Value more accessible to an additional area of Sedalia residents. The goal of every Woods associate is to help our customers ‘Save More Ways’ and provide a friendly, helpful shopping experience that will ‘exceed customers’ expectations.’”
The new Sedalia store will be Woods’ 12th supermarket, all located in the Southwest and Mid-Missouri areas. Besides their two Sedalia stores, Woods has supermarkets in Bolivar, Buffalo, Warrensburg, Sunrise Beach, Osage Beach, Lake Ozark, Eldon, Nevada, Stockton and El Dorado Springs.
