It's July. The fourth is over. And the long hot summer days can lead to restlessness in West Central Missouri. Crown Center Square at Kansas City's Crown Center has some great movies and music every Friday in July and the best part, it's free.

According to the Crown Center website:

Cap off your work week with top local bands and favorite food trucks on Crown Center Square. Finish the evening with a famous flick under the stars.  Plenty of space to enjoy a movie, music, food and drinks. The festivities begin at 6:00 PM CDT with the local band and food trucks.  Movies begin at approximately 9:00 PM CDT.

Here's the lineup for Crown Center's WeekEnder:

Friday, July 9

Music from the Suburbans, Kansas City's best good time dance party band.

Movie: "The Greatest Showman" (singalong version)

Friday, July 16

Music from County Road 5, which uses the slogan "Smells like County, tastes like Rock & Roll."

Movie: "Rudy"

Friday, July 23

Music from The Zeros revisiting New Wave 80s music.

Movie: "Spider-Man Far From Home"

Friday, July 30

Music from The Accidental Moguls pop cover band.

Movie: "The Princess Bride"

There's no admission to listen to the music or watch the shows. And those coming to the show are encouraged to bring their blankets and lawn chairs. Alcoholic beverages may not be brought in but will be available for purchase. No pets, please. And no glass bottles.

An evening in Kansas City with some great music and a great movie might be the perfect way to beat the summer doldrums. Plus it's free. Can't beat that.
