Free Back Pack Full of Supplies for Pettis County Students
It's only July, but it's never too early to think about what your kids will need when they head back to school. C.A.C.T.U.S, Community and Children Teaming Up 4 Success, wants to make it a little easier on families who need a little help getting school supplies.
The group's 2021 school distribution event will be a drive-through event on Monday, August 9, and Tuesday, August 10 behind Convention Hall in Liberty Park. Pre-registration for the event is not required, however, C.A.C.T.U.S. is asking families to fill out a form that they can find on their Facebook page, and some area agencies and bring it with them when they come to pick up supplies.
Distribution of school supplies will be done by the last name of the parent as follows:
Monday, August 9
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM CDT A-C
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM CDT D-G
Tuesday, August 10
10:00 AM - 11:00 AM CDT H-K
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM CDT L-O
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM CDT P-S
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM CDT T-Z
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Anyone
Parents are asked not to arrive earlier than the assigned time, or before the starting time for the event. Those who can't make their assigned time should come between 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM CDT on Tuesday or should send someone else to pick up the backpacks.
C.A.C.T.U.S is a local all-volunteer non-profit which raises funds to purchase school supplies through fundraisers and donations from businesses, organizations, churches, and individuals. The group is also a partner agency and receives funs from the United Way of Pettis County. C.A.C.T.U.S. provides backpacks and school supplies to 1.400 - 1,800 students each year, as well as delivery of supplies to schools throughout the year.
