Florida Man Killed After Being Struck by Tractor Trailer on I-70
A Florida man was killed after he stepped out of his vehicle and was struck by a tractor trailer on I-70 early Monday morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that 40-year-old Jonas J. Baptiste of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, exited his vehicle while on westbound I-70 at the 145.4 mile marker (west of Kingdom City) around 1:45 a.m., and was struck by a westbound 2023 Freightliner, driven by 42-year-old Marcus A. Boards of Escondido, California.
The Freightliner traveled off the right side of the roadway and sustained extensive damage.
Baptiste was transported to Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton and pronounced dead by Funeral Director Derek Ebersole at 6:34 a.m.
Callaway Deputies, Fire & EMS assisted the four Troopers on scene.
