The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a rate increase request from Evergy Missouri West, it was announced on Friday.

According to a press release, Evergy requested an increase in the Demand Side Investment Mechanism (DSIM) charge, which appears as a separate line item on customers' bills.

It was estimated that a residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month will see $1.31 in additional charges effective March 1.

Evergy Missouri West provides service to about 334,100 customers in 31 Missouri counties, including Pettis.

The DSIM charge allows Evergy to recover demand-side management program costs and incentives under the Missouri Energy Efficiency Investment Act.
