The Sedalia Kiwanis Club invites the community to be a part of Kiwanis Pancake Day on Saturday, October 28th.

You and I both know that we love pancakes.  And now, you can eat pancakes to help kids - while enjoying the health benefits of a delicious breakfast.  A 100-gram serving of plain pancakes, which is about 1 1/2 pancakes that are 6 inches big, contains 230 calories, 6 grams of protein, 30 grams of carbohydrates. The carbohydrates will be turned into glucose, the preferred source of energy for the brain, helping you to be alert and keeping you in a good mood throughout the morning.  Plain pancakes are a good source of vitamins and minerals, with a serving providing 20 percent of the daily value for calcium; 15 percent of the DV for phosphorus, riboflavin and thiamine; and 10 percent of the DV for iron and folate (I admit, I have no idea what folate is).

So make sure you attend the Kiwanis Pancake Day!  This annual event  is one of the major fundraisers for Sedalia Kiwanis Club, which allows them to support Sedalia youth programs and organizations including the Sedalia Kiwanis William Schien Memorial Scholarship Program, Pettis County Early Childhood, Malita Day Nursery, American Legion Baseball, Paul Klover Soccer , the Boys Scouts, the Girl Scouts, Sedalia Girls Softball, Show-Me Christian Youth Home and Childsafe  as well as being involved with three child car seat safety and bicycle helmet programs throughout the year.

Tickets for the event are $7 for adults and $3 for kids 12 and under and the meal will include pancakes, sausage, fruit and either coffee or juice.  The breakfast will be held at the Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church, 3201  Southwest Blvd, from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door and for more information contact Bob Milner at 660-473-1270.  Do it for yourself - and do it for the children.

Breakfastly yours,
Behka
