Three Sedalia 200 schools will have new leaders in charge for the 2023-24 school year.
On Monday night, the Board of Education approved the following promotions, which take effect July 1:

• Ashleigh Noland to principal at Smith-Cotton Junior High. Noland currently is an assistant principal at the junior high.

• Jennie Guerrini to director of Whittier Alternative High School, where she currently is an at-risk teacher focused on elective classes.

• Jeremy Fry to principal at Sedalia Middle School. Fry currently is an assistant principal at S-C Junior High.

They are replacing Stacy Curry, SCJH principal, who is retiring at the end of the 2022-23 school year; Whittier Director Martin White and Assistant Director B.J. Curry, who also are retiring; and SMS Principal Brett Hieronymus, who has been hired as superintendent for the Green Ridge R-8 School District.

Noland earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Missouri State University in 2007. She also holds a master’s degree in English from the University of Central Missouri (2009) and a specialist degree in educational administration from UCM (2016). She started her career as a communications arts teacher at Smith-Cotton High School in 2007, transferring to the junior high in the same role in 2009. She was an instructional coach at SCJH from 2013 to 2017, when she was promoted to assistant principal at the junior high.

Sedalia 200 Superintendent Dr. Todd Fraley said, “Ms. Noland has grown as a leader during her tenure as assistant principal at the junior high. Ms. Noland now has the experience along with the intelligence and work ethic to make positive growth and change at the junior high. She is a Smith-Cotton alumnus who will put her heart and soul into this position."

Guerrini holds a bachelor’s degree in business from UCM (1987) and a master’s in educational administration from William Woods University (2008). She started her district career as a business teacher at Whittier in 1999, then became an at-risk teacher at the school in 2017.

Fraley said, “Ms. Guerrini truly has a heart for Whittier students; after all, she has been a part of the Whittier Family for more than 20 years! She understands the climate and culture of that school. As a lifelong resident of Sedalia and a Smith-Cotton graduate, Ms. ‘G’ understands the big picture of what our students need to find success."

Fry earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Missouri Valley College,
graduating in 2006. He also holds a master’s degree in educational administration (2014) and a specialist degree in educational administration (2021), both from William Woods. He came to the district in 2009 as a reading specialist at SMS, then taught English Language Arts at the school starting in 2013. He became the school’s media specialist in 2015, then the instructional technology specialist in 2019. Fry was named interim principal at SMS in October 2019 after the passing of then-Principal Brendan Eisenmenger, serving in that role for the remainder of the school year. He became an assistant principal at S-C Junior High at the start of the 2020-21 school year.

Fraley said, “Mr. Fry has deep roots at Sedalia Middle School. Mr. Fry has the demeanor and disposition needed to work successfully with this transitional age group. With both elementary and secondary experience, Mr. Fry will be highly qualified to bridge this transition for our students.”
