The City of Sedalia and the Sedalia 200 School District announce a Stream Clean-Up event, taking place Thursday, Oct. 19 at the stream area behind Starbucks.

Brittany Wilbanks, Pretreatment and Stormwater Coordinator for the City of Sedalia, has organized the event with volunteer support from students of the Sedalia 200 School District.

“These clean-up efforts reflect the kind of engaged citizenship we strive to encourage in Sedalia,” said Wilbanks. “This action showcases what can be achieved when the community comes together for a common cause."

Public Works Director Chris Davies added, “Collaborative efforts like this highlight the importance of community and civic responsibility. The participation from our young residents not only maintains our environment but also nurtures a sense of duty to the community."

Gloves and trash bags are being provided by the City to aid volunteers in their efforts. A makeup date has been set for Oct. 25, should inclement weather occur.

Mayor Andrew Dawson stated, “This initiative perfectly aligns with the City’s commitment to community development and environmental sustainability. Our gratitude extends to the Sedalia 200 School District and the participating students for their collaborative spirit."

About 60 students are expected to participate in the event.
