A Carrollton man was killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Thursday morning in Saline County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a southbound 2006 Toyota Scion, driven by 20-year-old Nathan L. Pitts-Burkhart of Carrollton, was traveling at a high rate of speed on US 65, just west of Route BB in Saline County at 6:15 a.m., when the vehicle began skidding on a corner. The Toyota ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned, partially ejecting the driver and front seat passenger. The vehicle came to rest on its top, facing northwest.

Pitts-Burkhart was killed in the incident and the body was taken to the Saline County Coroner's Office.

Injured was 19-year-old Jonathan L. Bruce of Carrollton. He was taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall with minor injuries, while 27-year-old Christopher L. Bigby of Sedalia, was taken to Fizgibbon with moderate injuries.

None of the three were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

The Toyota was totaled.
