Boys & Girls Club to Host National Fine Arts Exhibit
The public is invited to a free art show featuring Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri members.
The National Fine Arts Exhibit will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Dec. 6 at the Liberty Center Association for the Arts, 111 W. 5th.
“Art education is very important to us at Boys & Girls Club, especially because many of our members only get to experience art class once a week during regular school time,” said Smithton Site Director Judy Moore, who spearheads the National Fine Arts Exhibit each year. “With our afterschool programming we can offer art multiple times a week, which our kids love.”
Club members have been creating art pieces for the last few months covering a range of styles and mediums. Paintings, sculpture, crafts, drawings and more will be displayed during the exhibit, which will run through Dec. 17. All pieces are judged and winners will receive blue ribbons for their work.
“We are especially thankful to the Liberty Center for allowing us to hold the exhibit there again this year,” Moore said. “Our members love seeing their art hanging in the galleries; it really lends some legitimacy to all the hard work they’ve put in.”
The National Fine Arts Exhibit will start at 6:30 p.m. with a member performance at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. For more information call (660) 826-8331.
