The first “Rising Stars Talent Show,” presented by Bryant Motors, was held Thursday, April 28 at the Smith-Cotton Junior High School FEMA Building and hosted by the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri.

The event was held as a way to showcase the many talents of Club members. A total of 11 acts were chosen to compete at the live show, which also included family activities, a meal and raffles.

Three winners were chosen by a panel of judges. Leeton Site member Whitney McCanles won first place for her solo of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” Skyline Site member Olivia La Strada won second place for her hula hoop dance, and Smithton Site member Angelina Biggs won third place for her a cappella solo of “Start Over.” La Strada was also named the People’s Choice Winner, which was voted on by those in attendance.

“This event was a great opportunity for our Club members to display their poise and courage by performing on stage in front of a large crowd. They all gave outstanding performances,” said Executive Director Jessica Pyle.

“A huge thank you goes out to our judges for helping determine the winners among such a talented group of young people. And to the parents, families and friends in attendance who cheered the talent acts on,” Pyle said.
