An Archie teenager was killed and two other Archie teens were injured in a rollover accident that occurred Saturday night in Cass County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, an eastbound 2015 Kia K900, driven by an 18-year-old Archie man, was on Route B, east of Rush Road, (five miles east of Archie) just before 9:30 p.m., when the Kia crossed the center of the road and traveled off the west side of the road and overturned.

The driver and one of the passengers, a 17-year-old male from Archie, were ejected. Neither were wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

The driver was transported to Cass County Regional Hospital by Garden City EMS. He was pronounced dead at 10:42 p.m., by Dr. Jeff Girkin.

The 17-year-old was flown to Children's Mercy Hospital by Life Flight with serious injuries.

A third passenger, an 18-year-old male, also from Archie, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Belton Regional Hospital by private vehicle. He was the only one wearing a seat belt, according to the report.

The Kia was totaled.

The Archie R-V School District issued the following statement on Sunday afternoon:

We are saddened to share the news of a tragedy that occurred last night.
Three students were in a terrible car accident late last night. All three were transported to local hospitals. One student passed away, one is in critical care, and one is home recovering.
Counselors will be available throughout the week. More detailed information to follow.
You Matter Archie is opening the Community Center today at 1:00. A Compass counselor will be there.
We will share funeral arrangements when they are available. Monday's JH basketball game has been cancelled.
