Sedalia's very first Zombie Zoom 5k sounds pretty fun, and it benefits the Sedalia Animal Shelter. The Zombie Zoom is on Halloween at the Missouri State Fairgrounds.

Heather Bennett with the Sedalia Animal Shelter says the Zombie Zoom isn't your typical 5k. "It's kind of more a little bit of a game. All the runners will have football flag belts, and those are their lives, so they're running for their lives. They'll come across zombie zones where the zombies will be 'attacking,' going after the flags. The first person to finish with lives remaining will be our winner."

Sounds awesome, right? So where do they get zombies? How can you be a zombie? "We need all the zombies we can get. That part's no running involved, and it's free to be a zombie, so just show up. We'll have people on site who do makeup and hair for the zombies. Check out our Facebook page to sign up and register."

You can also sign up for the Zombie Zoom at the Mason Jar Cafe on Ohio. The Animal Shelter could also use volunteers to help with course maintenance, refreshments, and general event staff.

In addition to the 5k, there will also be vendors, craft vendors, contests, Zumba, a costume contest, and a "Thriller" flash mob. The best way to contact the Zombie Zoom is on their Facebook page, but you can email sedaliazombiezoom@gmail.com, or call 660-851-0915.
