If you were like me, you remember the food that was made and cooked in your grade school cafeteria. I can still smell and taste those specials treats as a child.

We all have our childhood memories of what happened in school, especially those special moments in grade school that helped to mold us into what we are today. One of those moments might have been walking in line and keeping quiet as we strolled down the hall to the cafeteria.

Remember having your nickel in hand for your milk? If you were lucky, some days you would even get the choice of white or chocolate milk! Lunch in the cafeteria was always fun and sometimes it was a new culinary experience.

I still remember the goulash and the sliced potatoes with chunks of ham. You'd walk through the line and watch the ladies behind the counter with their hair nets dishing up onto the plastic rectangular trays portions of meatloaf like the kind you'd get at Sunday dinner at grandma's house, jello squares with carrot slivers, REAL mashed potatoes and gravy, and a piece of that delicious peanut butter bar, served up hot from one of their humongous cookie sheets.

Oh those were the days!
