The Sedalia Police Department has released the results from their participation in a statewide "youth seat belt enforcement mobilization," which took place from March 15 through March 31.

Sedalia Police issued 41 speeding tickets and 4 other traffic violations during the enforcement effort.

Sedalia Police Officer Casey Devorss pointed out in a statement that seat belts are the single best defense in a crash. “Law enforcement will continue to encourage drivers to make a simple, smart choice to buckle up and arrive alive,” said Devorss.

Despite evidence proving the benefits of wearing a seat belt, 33 percent of teens do not buckle up, and eight out of ten Missouri teens killed in traffic crashes are unbuckled.
