Pettis County Presiding Commissioner John Meehan announced today (Dec. 4) that the county will hold their first Christmas Lighting Contest this year. The county contest will be held for those living in Pettis County outside of Sedalia.

Meehan asks that anyone who is interested should call his office at the Pettis County Courthouse. The number is 660-826-5000 ext 405, and if you get the answering machine, leave a number, and he will call you back.

There will be three winners that will have a donation placed in their name to the charity of their choosing, with 1st place receiving $100, 2nd place receiving $50, and 3rd place receiving $25.

Although Sedalia residents will be ineligible for this contest, the Sedalia City Council and XI Beta Upsilon are currently holding a decorating contest for those in the city limits.
