Lt. Governor Parson: Sedalia a ‘Shining Example’

Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson visited Sedalia on Wednesday. The Lieutenant Governor toured Starline Brass and Waterloo Industries, met with area leaders to discuss tourism and economic development, and held a veterans town hall meeting. Starline Brass has expanded three times in the past decade, with 75 employees manufacturing over 100 different calibers of brass bullet casings and other brass components. Waterloo Industries employs over 725 people to manufacture quality toolboxes, and recently reinvested in their Sedalia facilities and closed a facility in Mexico to continue operations in the United States.

“Sedalia is a shining example of how tourism, economic development, a skilled workforce, and veterans go hand in hand to make a community successful,” said Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson. “With organizations like Waterloo and Starline working with longtime attractions like the Missouri State Fair, educational institutions like State Fair Community College and military installations like Whiteman Air Force Base, Sedalia has prospered. With over 700,000 visitors each year and hundreds of millions of dollars in economic impact, tourism and economic development can do a tremendous amount of good for a community, and I am proud to support and encourage other cities and towns across Missouri to follow the same example as Sedalia,” Parson said.

“We were honored to have the opportunity to showcase our great community and tour several state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities with Lieutenant Governor Parson who has always been a strong supporter of Sedalia and Pettis County,” said President of Economic Development Sedalia-Pettis County Rusty Kahrs. “The companies who call this community home continue to reinvest in their facilities and their quality people which was evident as we spoke with companies throughout the day with the Lieutenant Governor,” Kahrs said.
