Kansas City Soldier Killed in Afghanistan
Sgt. 1st Class Trenton L. Rhea, 33, of Kansas City, Mo., died May 15 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He was a member of the 603rd Military Police Company, in Belton, Mo. He deployed under Operation Enduring Freedom.
QC Supply to Open Distribution Center in Sedalia
Economic Development Sedalia-Pettis County and The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) announced today (May 9) that QC Supply, an international distributor of agricultural goods, will open a new distribution center in Sedalia. The Schuyler, Neb. based company sells livestock equipment and supplies and provides installation of specific lines of products for livestock and poultry equipment. Mr. Lonnie Kitt is President of the company.
Mules Golf Captures NCAA-II Super Regional Crown
The Central Missouri Mules fired a final round 285 on Wednesday to come from behind and win the NCAA-II Midwest/Central Super Regional with a three-round total of five-under par 859 at The Club at Strawberry Creek. Freshman Robby Hughey won the individual crown with a 13-under par 203.
Pettis County Man Sentenced to Life in Prison
A Pettis County man will spend life in prison for molesting six young men between 2008 and 2012. David Donahue, 42, Sedalia, was charged last July with statutory sodomy in the first and second degree, child molestation and attempt to commit statutory sodomy. He entered guilty pleas to six charges in January. The court ordered a sentence assessment report and scheduled a sentencing hearing for today.
Stephanie Jackson Hired as Principal at Parkview Elementary School
On Monday night (April 23), the Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education approved the hiring of Mrs. Stephanie Jackson, assistant principal at Smith-Cotton Junior High School, as principal at Parkview Elementary School. She succeeds Mrs. Kelly Sobaski, who last week announced her retirement, effective at the end of the current school year.
Busch Stadium to Host First College Football Game
The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that the football teams of longtime rivals Southeast Missouri State University and Southern Illinois University will play each other at Busch Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 21. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

Household Hazardous Waste Pickup Being Held at the Missouri State Fairgrounds This Weekend
Pettis County, the City of Sedalia and the Region F Solid Waste District will be sponsoring a Household Hazardous Waste Pickup on Saturday, April 13 from 8 a.m. to noon at the west campgrounds on the Missouri State Fairgrounds. Those bringing waste to the pickup are asked to enter the campground off Clarendon Road.
