Community Santa is a seasonal organization in Sedalia looking to bring a little Christmas to those that have run into unfortunate circumstances, whether it be unemployment, a fire at the house or other financial hardships.

Community Santa is need of donations from the public and could really use board games. “Each year the price and demand of board games goes up," said Community Santa Executive Director Carol McMillan. “We could really use donations for board games. This is something that families can play together, and that is one of the main ideas of Community Santa, is to bring family fun to the table.”

Better Country, KIX 105, 92.3 BOB-FM and Newstalk 1050 KSIS encourages you to donate toys, books and supplies wherever you see the Community Santa Box this year. You can also donate board games at our station, located at 2209 S. Limit, Sedalia, Mo. during normal business hours, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Usually there are 400 families that register for Community Santa, so that is the goal for donations.  They would like to reach their goal by the end of November.

If you are a family in need, Community Santa is currently taking applications for holiday assistance Monday through Friday through Nov. 22, 2013 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m at the strip mall behind Bing's in the State Fair Shopping Center. If you're looking to get assistance this year, you will need to provide social security cards for each member of the household, proof of income, proof of Pettis County residence and the amounts of aid that you receive. If you have any questions, you can also call 660-473-2408.
