One thing you always hear about in Cole Camp is about the German heritage they have.  My family is part German, and it seems like about a third of Cole Camp is related to us in one way or another, either by cousinry or by marriage.  So when I saw this event, I thought it was something that the people in Sedalia and the surrounding areas might want a little more information on.  It's called Sangerfest, and in English that's translated into "Singer's Festival."  So I think you know where we're going with this.

Don't worry, I'm not going to post a video of Doug singing.  Although I could have taken one today as he was cleaning out his office. What we are going to do is discuss this great festival!

It will be held on June 9 in the Jaycee Gardens of Cole Camp beginning at 5:30 p.m. Festbaum begins at 5 p.m. Singing groups from St Louis, Tulsa, Kansas City and Cole Camp will be present, celebrating our heritage through German song.  Admission is free, and food is available for a free will donation beginning at 4 p.m.  This is sponsored by the German Club of Cole Camp.  For more information, call 660-668-3157 or visit colecampmissouri.com. In case of rain, the program will be held in the Lutheran School Gym.

If the website is any indication, it looks like this is going to be a blast and a half.  You can hear all sorts of singing from many, many different groups.

I'm sure most of it is in German, too!  You can learn a little something about the language, the food, and the drinks of Deutschland, and  have a great time, too.

Just, you know, don't ask Doug to join your group.  It's for the best.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,

Behka
