Jack Miller

I was born Oct. 7, 1938 at Bothwell Hospital. I attended Washington Elementary and Smith-Cotton High School. I joined the United States Navy in 1955, and served on four WWll era Destroyers during my active career in the Navy. I am retired Navy with 24 years of service in the regular navy and the reserve force. I have worked in real estate sales, mobile home sales and a lot of laborer type jobs. I retired from Payless Cashways as a dock worker, and machine operator in 2001 when they went out of business. I have written columns for the Sedalia Democrat, and the Sedalia News Journal and two books “Unhurried Days” and “Looking Back Again.” I have worked in Radio for over 10 years as a newsman and on-air columnist. I have been married to Marlene (Yahne) Miller for 53 years, and we have three children, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. I am currently working on a fiction book of short stories.

Sedalia STING Unit Serves No-Knock Search Warrant, Finds Meth and Prescription Drugs

At 5:16 a.m Wednesday morning (Feb. 12), detectives and officers with the Sedalia Police Department served a no-knock drug-related search warrant at 2429 North Woodlawn Dr. A press release states officers forced entry to the residence and arrested three suspects located inside. Arrested at the scene was 44-year-old James S. Lees, 43-year-old Niko W. Wooldridge of the residence, along with 41-year-old Melissa Stout of Sedalia. All three suspects were transported to the Pettis County Jail, where they were placed on 24-hour hold pending state charges.

Sedalia STING Unit Serves Search Warrant on South Ingram Avenue, Finds Finds Meth and Other Drugs

Around 2:07 Tuesday morning (Feb. 11) detectives with the STING Unit and Patrol Officers responded to 2805 South Ingram Ave., Lot 7, to serve a search warrant. Upon entry to the residence, officers discovered methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills, drug paraphernalia, and materials commonly used to package drugs for sale.

Sedalia will not hold a School Board Election again this year because only the incumbents have signed up to run. Sedalia STING Unit Detectives Arrest Warrensburg Man on Drug Charges, Resisting Arrest

Detectives with the Sedalia STING Unit stopped a vehicle at 16th and Limit at 8:28 Tuesday night (Jan. 7) for careless and imprudent driving and an equipment violation. Upon contact with the occupants of the vehicle, a passenger fled the vehicle on foot and was pursued by the detectives and other officers. The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Darrell L. Perry of Warrensburg, was apprehended in the 1400 block of South Warren Ave. after resisting arrest and attempting to fight detectives and officers.

Sedalia STING Unit Uncovers Meth Operation on East 4th St.

At 1:14 this morning (Dec. 17), the Sedalia Police STING unit and other officers served a search warrant at 1616 East 4th St. Upon arrival officers, entered the residence and secured one subject. A search of the residence revealed methamphetamine, digital scales, drug packaging supplies and drug paraphernalia. Officers also seized a firearm from the residence.

Sedalia STING Unit Uncovers Meth, Illegal Prescription Pills on West 2nd St.

At 6:23 this morning (Dec. 13), the Sedalia Police Department's STING Unit along with other officers served a search warrant at 615 West 2nd St. The police report states several subjects were secured at the residence during a search that revealed a large amount of what was believed to be methamphetamine, as well as packaging materials and illegal prescription pills.
