A crowd of animal lovers and city officials as well as the media gathered at a patch of rough ground on South New York Avenue at 11am this (Wednesday) morning to witness a groundbreaking ceremony for a new state of the art animal shelter.

The shelter is being privately built by the Sue Heckart Family Foundation. The beautifully designed building was designed by Architect M. Thomas Hall of Chesterfield, and will be built by Hank Kronk of Transition Construction of Sedalia. Sue Heckart is a well known and successful Shoiw-Dog Owner, and several of her award winners were on hand to witness the event. The shelter is one more landmark, that will be a symbol of Heckart’s service to the community for years to come. The project is scheduled to be completed sometime in January of next year.
